According to information from the Northwest Fire District, nobody was hurt, even though the auto came to rest with a large saguaro sticking out of the windshield, just missing the driver.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, officials responded to a single vehicle crash in the Catalina Foothills area.

He crossed through a median and collided with a saguaro that eventually crashed right through his windshield.

Although it's probably not as severe as hitting, say, a solid tree trunk, the driver is still incredibly lucky to be alive.

Jelineo said deputies detained the driver for further investigation after observing signs and symptoms of impairment.

The driver's identity wasn't released. The fact that the driver was not killed was a shock to Claudia Figueroa. Her company, Arizona Cactus Experts, deals with the removal and maintenance of the might desert plants every day.

"I saw the picture".

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and for criminal damage.
