Mountain Dew making amends with UP after map mix-up

Michigan's Upper Peninsula is not in Wisconsin.

A Twitter account called The Upper Peninsula took issue with the oversight and called the company out on Tuesday.

Mountain Dew is holding a contest to celebrate the 50 states, but they made a little mistake with MI.

World renowned pop - yeah that's what we call it here in MI - giant Mountain Dew is hoping to make amends with angry MI residents after the company mistakenly placed the Upper Peninsula as part of Wisconsin in some recent marketing materials.

To kick off June, the DEWnited States program launched by celebrating DEW Nation and giving them unique and collectible custom state bottle graphics that demonstrate all the ways that they show their state pride.

In a recent ad campaign, the soft drink company posted a picture of a map of the USA that had Michigan's Upper Peninsula colored the same as Wisconsin- not as part of MI.

There's no word yet on when the special edition labels can be found in stores or what exactly the final product will look like.
