The Gunners fly to the United States at lunchtime on Thursday, but will travel without their skipper who stunned club chiefs by turning up at London Colney on Thursday morning and announcing he would spend the day training and that he would not be joining the rest of the squad on the coach to the airport.

Bordeaux have reportedly offered him a three-year contract, prompting him to take action to move back to his country.

Koscielny has a number of offers from clubs in Ligue 1, with Bordeaux among the strongest linked, and the player has requested that Arsenal cancel his contract so he's able to finalise a move back home.

"We are very disappointed by Laurent's actions, which are against our clear instructions".

The retired France worldwide has made a total of 353 appearances for the Gunners, in which he's found the back of the net 27 times. "We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time", the statement continued.

In total, the France worldwide has made 255 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League, scoring 22 goals since joining from French side Lorient for £10m in July 2010.

SunSport reports Koscielny's agent has held talks with Arsenal in an attempt to try and secure him a free transfer away.

Arsenal struggled defensively in Unai Emery's first season in charge, conceding 51 goals in the Premier League. Last season, Koscielny played 30 times for his club, including an appearance for the Under-21 when he was en route to his recovery from an injury.

The Gunners begin their pre-season campaign against Colorado Rapids on July 16 before facing Bayern Munich, Roma and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
