No replacements to be called in for now.

Both teams have been in imperious form as New Zealand have won their opening three matches while India have won two in as many games. The team management is hopeful of him getting fit even as the batsman won't be part of the New Zealand and Pakistan game at least.

It remains to be seen if he regains fitness for the match against Afghanistan of June 22.

It is worth mentioning that Dhawan was the star with the bat in India's win against the Aussies at the Kennington Oval on Sunday with his scintillating knock of 117 off 109 deliveries. He didn't take the field due to the injury during the clash. post which he underwent scans in which the fracture came to light. "The team management has decided that Dhawan will continue to be in England and his progress will be monitored", the Indian team said in a statement on Tuesday night.

However, despite his hundred, the southpaw suffered thumb injury from a rising Pat Cummins bouncer. Indian physio Patrick Farhart immediately attended to the player but Dhawan continued batting.

Rishabh Pant was Wednesday brought in as cover for the injured Shikhar Dhawan.

"Rishabh Pant is being flown in from India as cover at the request of the team management", a senior BCCI official now in England told PTI.

Cricket analysts are of the opinion that K.L. Rahul will now be the opening partner of Rohit Sharma with Dinesh Karthick and Vijay Shankar bolstering up the middle order.

The ICC doesn't have any specific stand-by list as such and anyone could replace a current player based on approval from the event technical committee.
