Crystal Dynamics has always been rumored to be working on a new Marvel's Avengers game, and Square Enix has been teasing the title for a bit now. Square Enix announced it is playable at their booth during E3.

Marvel's Avengers invites players to live their Super Hero dreams.

The looks appropriately Avengers-y, with Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Captain America all proudly featured. The trailer shows a serious and dark tone for this Avengers universe as Captain America tragically passes in an accident caused during an Avengers celebration in San Francisco. It's being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, the teams behind Tomb Raider and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Square Enix has revealed the game will be ready for everyone on May 15, 2020.

The backlash forces the Avengers to disband and the game's story picks up five years later.

MCU fans can rejoice as Avengers have assembled not for a movie but for the game which you can play on Xbox or PlayStation.

The four players co-op mode's "narrative will be delivered over multiple years" as well, Square Enix doubled down. Marvel's Avengers will launch on PC and Google Stadia. Likewise, the assertion that there won't be "loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios" smacks heavily of ongoing multiplayer games like Overwatch or Fortnite, and a reference to "new superhero [es] and region [s]" suggests a more open design than, say, Spider-Man. He shrunk a huge robot using a weapon and we believe it could be Hank Pym aka Ant-Man.

PlayStation users, however, will get early access to the Beta, which does not have a confirmed date yet and will also receive extra in-game items.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson all recently retired from their Marvel roles after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and putting new actors in the roles allow them to explore events already covered in the films without breaking canon.
