British Foreign Minister Says EU Willing To Renegotiate Brexit Deal

The Foreign Secretary won the backing of influential Remain supporter Amber Rudd and prominent Brexiteer Penny Mordaunt as he positioned himself as a "serious leader".

She said she "trusted" Mr Hunt on Brexit, praising his "strong values" and "consistently good judgement" during his time in office.

He said: "Without a deal, any Prime Minister who promised to leave by a certain date would have to call a general election to change the parliamentary arithmetic".

"If we fight an election before delivering Brexit we will be annihilated".

Johnson, who has also suggested that Britain could withhold a previously agreed 39 billion pound ($50 billion) Brexit payment, is one of a number of candidates who has stated that Britain would leave the European Union with or without a deal on the current date of October 31. We will simply allow Labour through the middle.

At the other end of the Brexit spectrum, Matt Hancock, who has ruled out leaving the bloc without a deal, will launch his campaign by promising Britain "a fresh start" with a pro-business platform aimed at reaching new, younger voters. We are facing a constitutional crisis.

"Our new Prime Minister will preside over a hung Parliament".

Environment Secretary Michael Gove will outline his plans on Monday afternoon, as he battles to stay in the contest after his admission of cocaine use 20 years ago led to calls to withdraw. "Our friends and partners need to understand that the money is going to be retained until such time as we have greater clarity about the way forward", he told The Sunday Times.

"Choose me for unity over division, for experience over rhetoric, for tough negotiation over empty threats".

May stepped down as Conservative Party leader on Friday and formally triggered the race for a successor - now being contested by 11 Tory MPs - but will remain prime minister until a new leader is chosen.

Hunt's pitch was that he would deliver Brexit before allowing a general election, saying the failure to leave the European Union had "put our country and our party in grave peril".
