If you're curious about where VR gaming is headed, you might want to start by thinking of many, many people playing at once.

During the Upload VR E3 2019 showcase, Vertigo Games revealed After the Fall, a brand-new 4-player cooperative title that they expect to release sometime in 2020.

Set in the ice-covered ruins of LA almost 20 years after the apocalypse, After the Fall combines a living, breathing VR world shared with players from all over the world, a cinematic and atmospheric campaign, action-packed solo and multiplayer gameplay, and endgame built from the ground up for VR.

Vertigo Games is working on a "shared-world" multiplayer VR shooter, the studio announced Monday in a press release.

Players will be able to craft weapons including guns and melee ones which can be used to fight the hordes that survive icy LA as well as the bosses that dominate the land. After The Fall looks to continue similar John Carpenter-esque themes.

After the Fall is expected to be out in 2020, but players can wishlist the game at the Oculus Store or Steam in the meantime. "Arizona Sunshine was one of the first full-feature games developed exclusively for VR". The studio's goal with After the Fall is to release a seamless multiplayer experience that is set within a "dynamic, changing world that will keep players coming back for more". I haven't tried it out, but hopefully will get a chance to soon.
