But man, something weird truly unfolded during the first inning of the Atlanta Braves' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

Donaldson has chosen to appeal his suspension, so he can continue to play for the Braves until his suspension is heard.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle also was ejected by plate umpire Brian Gorman for arguing the decision to toss Musgrove.

Donaldson was suspended prior to Tuesday's night game between the Pirates and Braves at SunTrust Park. So, there wasn't any reason for Donaldson to think Musgrove had ill intent with the pitch. No punches were thrown, and the field was quickly cleared.

No baseball player (shy of maybe Craig Biggio) enjoys getting hit by the pitch. The only physical contact appeared to be Donaldson's shove.

"He kept coming down the mound and looking at me", Donaldson said, according to 680 The Fan. "I felt like, obviously he had a problem with something".
