Kroger bringing CBD products to 92 stores in MI

Getting a CBD-infused topical will now be as simple as a trip to the grocery store.

Kroger is entering the CBD market, by bringing a selection of oils, balms, lotions and creams to 92 stores in MI soon.

The grocery chain's corporate affairs manager for its MI division, Rachel Hurst, said the company will begin the rollout this week in 17 states, according to The Detroit News.

Details about specific locations, and a timeline for rollout have not been made available.

Kroger is the latest retailer to get into the CBD business.

In Mid-Michigan, Family Video is the only retail chain advertising sales of CBD products. "Our limited selection of hemp-derived CBD topical products is from suppliers that have been reviewed for quality and safety".

According to Gardner, people are coming in for the CBD products but eventually pick up movies too.

The Food and Drug Administration held a hearing in May 2019 to hear from the CBD industry about the cannabinoid and its possible inclusion in edibles.

CBD - or cannabidiol - is derived from the cannabis plant and can be used to relieve pain and anxiety. CBD products can only contain up to 0.3 percent THC - tetrahydrocannabinol - which means they do not cause the psychoactive effects that marijuana users experience.
