The Mercedes-Benz GLB is the latest MFA architecture vehicle from the carmaker, joining the new A-Class, new B-Class and new CLA, among others. The previous-generation GLS' most popular options are now standard.

But the hike in price is well worth it, as there is essentially more of everything in this new auto. Including destination, the 2020 GLS 450 4MATIC will start at $76,195, which is $5,050 more than the 2019 GLS' starting price of $71,145. It replaces the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, and Mercedes-Benz promises smoother acceleration (thanks to the inline-6 layout) and improved efficiency (thanks to the mild-hybrid system).

Total, the engine and electric motor make 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. EQ Boost tech, which is meant to assist acceleration and improve efficiency, additionally makes up to 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, optional features include a 10.25-inch COMAND dual screen display which includes a customizable cluster along with a matching infotainment screen. The new SUV is available in five-seat and seven-seat options and post-launch, it will be positioned above the GLA and below the GLC in the global lineup.
