Officials say they could have been exposed and are warning people to be on the lookout for symptoms.

Washington Dulles International Airport in Terminal A and Baggage Claim level on June 2 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"Measles is a highly contagious, potentially life-threatening infection that is preventable using vaccination", said David Priest, Novant Health's chief safety and quality officer. Health officials are investigating and are urging people who were at the airport as well as two other locations on the 2 to 4 June to be vigilant for symptoms.

The virus often manifests as a combination of high fever - as high as 105 degrees Fahrenheit - along with cough, runny nose and pink eye, according to Dr. Julia S. Sammons, a pediatric infectious disease specialist and medical director of the Department of Infection Prevention and Control at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. A rash appears three to seven days later, appearing first on the face and spreading to the rest of the body.

What should you do if you were at one of the above locations at the time specified? Those who have received only one dose of a measles vaccine are probably not at risk, but a second dose would ensure complete immunity.

If you suspect you may have contracted measles, it's important to get in touch with your health department or doctor's office right away. Contact your local health department or health care provider for advice on possible intervention to decrease your risk of becoming infected or other precautions you need to take. Let them know before arriving that you may have been exposed.

Since the increase of MMR vaccination comprehensive coverage for at-risk people was among the measures to achieve the goal, the DDC had asked for Bt93.41 million budget to procure the MMR vaccine - for which the Bureau of Budget approved Bt54.15 million, the minister said.

Once a person has measles, about 90% of close contacts who are susceptible to it will develop the disease. Two doses are recommended for most individuals with the first dose given at age 12-15 months and the second prior to kindergarten entry (age 4-6 years). NY has been the largest contributor to this year's unfortunate milestone with almost 700 cases of measles reported this year in the state.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) has confirmed one additional case of measles in a local resident reporting worldwide travel.
