Now L'Equipe claim the 33-year-old defender "is looking for a new challenge" and next week's Europa League Final against Chelsea will be his last match for the club.

According to The Mirror, there are a few European sides interested in his services, with Rennes and AC Milan amongst the front runners, but they also claim that Bayer Leverkusen are very interested and now at the front of the queue.

It's been suggested that a breakdown in recent extension talks was the catalyst for Koscielny's current situation, and the Frenchman is now considering making next week's Europa League final his last ever game in an Arsenal shirt.

Laurent Koscielny could leave Arsenal this summer as the club stall on a new contract.

Umtiti has been out of Barcelona's first team since Clement Lenglet broke into the side and the potential arrival of Mathijs de Ligt would further jeopardize his future in Catalonia.

Release clauses are a bit of a joke, they are put into contracts in order to prevent clubs coming along and trying to snatch a player without paying a premium, though if you are a club like Paris Saint Germain you have the means to pay nearly any ridiculous release clause fee. However, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen reportedly appear to be leading the race now as they want the experience of the veteran for next season's Champions' League.

And they go on to say he will "especially" push for a transfer away if they fail to overcome the Blues and miss out on Champions League football next season. Therefore the chances of him joining Bayer Leverkusen are high. On the bright side if they can cough up around 50 million pounds then they can easily capture a readily available quality player like Umtiti, who can add a lot of class and depth to this technically unstable defence of Arsenal.
