Former Florida St. quarterback Deondre Francois tells 247Sports he will transfer to FAU, but sources within Florida Atlantic tell OwlAccess.com this is far from a done deal.

Francois was dismissed from Florida State's program in February after Francois allegedly threatened his girlfriend in a video posted to Instagram. He threw 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a freshman, completing 58.8 percent of his passes. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 2017 season-opener against Alabama. Francois returned in 2018 and put up good, but certainly not great stats: 15 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 57.3 completion percentage. That incident came one month after Francois was cleared of an alleged battery of his girlfriend, who was nine weeks pregnant. Tallahassee Police said Francois and a woman they did not identify gave varying accounts of the incident to officers, who said they could not establish probable cause for charges. "I just want to learn from it and grow from it".

"I take full responsibility for my actions", Francois told 247 Sports. That won't happen again.

Francois, 22, led the Seminoles to a 10-3 record in 2016 but tore his ACL in the first game of the following season and missed the rest of the year. FAU went 5-7 in 2018, Kiffin's second season at the helm.

Also on the Owls' roster at quarterback are former IN transfer Nick Tronti (who played IN one game last season), junior-college transfer Justin Agner and redshirt freshman Cordel Littlejohn.
