Alex Ovechkin and Andrei Svechnikov dropped the gloves early in Game 3 on Monday night, and it went poorly for the Carolina Hurricanes rookie.

The fight occured halfway through the first period with Carolina ahead 1-0.

Svechnikov lay on the ice, struggling to get up following the fight as a trainer came to attend him. Svechnikov remained down on the ice after the bout and then had to be helped off to the locker room. After some chatter, the Hurricanes' rookie and debatably the greatest goal scorer in National Hockey League history dropped the gloves.

What did you think of Ovechkin's crushing knockout of Andrei Svechnikov? The No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 National Hockey League draft has played in every game for the Hurricanes this season, scoring 20 goals and 17 assists.

Both players received 5-minute fighting majors.

The 19-year-old Svechnikov who was taken No. 2 overall in last year's draft has two goals and an assist in the series.
