With the inclusion of Howard, it is interesting to note that the two coaches that the Lakers reportedly have expressed interest in include two coaches that have experience working with Lakers star LeBron James.

Williams and Tyronn Lue remain front-runners to be the next head coach of the Lakers. But Williams is also a contender, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will begin conducting interviews in their coaching search this week, including meetings with Miami assistant Juwan Howard and Dallas assistant Jamahl Mosley, league sources told ESPN.

Rob Pelinka will meet with Monty Williams between game 2 and 3 of the Philadelphia 76ers playoff series as he seeks to find a replacement for Luke Walton. In addition to Williams, they will interview Lue and Howard this upcoming week as well. He compiled a 173-221 mark as head coach with New Orleans before being fired in 2015.

Whoever lands the Lakers coaching job will have a lot of work to do, melding a roster that will see a lot of turnover this summer.

With a young team that's still years away from making the playoffs, let alone contending, it makes sense that the Cavs would look for a coach that matches their team's timeline.

It appears more and more that Pelinka - the former agent for Kobe Bryant and other NBA players, now in just his second year as a GM - will be running the Lakers basketball operations and constructing the new roster.
