Geely, China's highest profile auto maker with investments in Volvo and Daimler, launched a premium all-electric auto brand "Geometry" on Thursday as it pushes ahead with its plans to boost production of new energy vehicles.

The Geometry A Standard Range features a 51.9-kilowatt-hour battery good for nearly 250 miles of range and the Long Range model features a 61.9-kwh battery good for close to 300 miles.

Chinese manufacturer Geely has launched a new all-electric auto brand.

It's created to compete directly with the Tesla Model 3, and just like the Tesla it has Standard Range and Long Range battery options.

The new EV brand plans to launch 10 new models into the market by 2025 and will offer models in a range of segments including sedans, SUVs, crossovers and people-movers.

"The launch of Geometry and its first product advances Geely's strategic goal of becoming one of world top 10 automotive groups", An Conghui, president of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, said in the statement. Both distances have been measured under the NEDC standard. Geely gives an average consumption of 13.5 kWh per 100 km for the Geometry A. The average consumption of the Geometry A is 13.5 kWh per 100 km. The company claims, based on the price of electricity in Beijing, 1km would cost just.07 RMB (USD $.01) and a daily 30km commute would be less than 2 RMB (USD $.30). Continuous monitoring of the battery system and motor ensures smooth energy output while the intelligent temperature control system ensures efficient battery performance in any weather. The powertrain system provides a maximum power of 120kW and maximum torque of 250Nm allowing Geometry A to reach a speed of 100kmph in 8.8s. The Geometry A also includes a "Fast Charge" feature that can see the battery charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

Geely itself describes the exterior design as "minimalist" and "avant-garde".

The company added it had already received more than 26,000 orders globally for its first model, the Geometry A. The longer-range version of the model has an ability to travel up to 500 kilometres (310.69 miles) on a single charge, Geely said. Hardware and technology could, therefore, be shared across these multinational brands.
