This is almost twice as fast as the SuperVOOC from OPPO, which is now the fastest charging technology available in the market for smartphones. It relies on 10V/5A power supply and splits the battery into two sections to charge it faster. That's significantly faster than any current wired fast charging solution. Specific details are yet to be announced, but Xiaomi's co-founder and President Lin Bin has shared a video of its new technology in action. Just like other custom fast charging technologies, the Super Charge Turbo technology might also require its own USB cable and power adapter to offer those high speeds. In case the company does plan to commercialize the technology soon, consumers will likely have to shell out extra to purchase a Super Charge Turbo compatible charger.

For context, the fastest charging solution from Xiaomi right now is just its 27W charger.

In the video demonstration, Xiaomi's Super Charge Turbo is tested with a 4000mAh device and the OPPO with a 3700mAh device. Huawei introduced the Mate X foldable smartphone with 55W Fast Charging.

Lu Weibing, head of Redmi products has now additionally revealed that the brand will be the first to mass produce this new 100W Super Charge Turbo solution.

In a side by side comparison with OPPO's SuperVOOC charging, by the time Xiaomi's device had finished charging to 100%, OPPO's SuperVOOC only managed to charge up to 65%.
