O2 borkage leaves users unable to make or receive calls

"Whilst another added: "@O2 is the voice network down as I can't make or receive any calls".

The issues were first reported at around 8am, and network monitoring site Down Detector received more than 450 reports of outages.

"We will continue to work with Ericsson, through the night, who have assured us that a full service will be restored for customers by the morning".

The issue appears to be affecting users all across the United Kingdom, with complaints coming in from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Nottingham, Southampton, Leeds, Bristol, and Portsmouth.

One user on the Down Detector website said: "No voice on O2 can text but cannot receive or make a call and stranded at Northampton as no train service into London - due to signal failure - could be linked or just coincidence?" "We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused." - although it seems not all Twitter users agree.

O2 did not say what had caused the outage, but said it will conduct a thorough review.

There's now no word on when things will be back online but this outage comes after a major issue hit O2 in December.

This isn't great timing for the network giant, as the brand recently suffered a large outage in December previous year - while this problem was quickly fixed, it's not something that's going to sit well with customers who are still disgruntled with what happened just a few months back.
