MacRumors received a tip earlier this month claiming that Apple would announce new iPads, iMacs, and iPods on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week ...

The iPod was a revolution in portable music players, and rumor has it that while the iPod Nano and the iPod Shuffle have long since been benched, Apple might be announcing a refreshed version of the iPod Touch today.

Rumors surrounding a refresh started circulating in January, when Macotakara reported a new iPod touch was on the way. The current iPod touch starts from $199.

Apple has scheduled an event for March 25 where the company is expected to launch its subscription service along with the new AirPods 2. The device is powered by Apple's own A8 processor which powered the Apple iPhone 6. So far, we've obviously seen two of those three things happen, which would suggest that, all things being equal, we will finally see the arrival of a refreshed iPod touch tomorrow. The device came with a 4-inch Retina display and an 8MP rear camera.

The iPod touch now has a relatively old chip (A8) that'll probably be updated in a new set of models to A10 Fusion or A11 Bionic, preparing the model for the most recent version of iOS. Apart from this, it is not clear that what all other features or changes will be included in the device. A storage upgrade should be on the cards especially since the existing iPod touch is only available in 32GB and 128GB storage options.

Apple is on something of a roll with its hardware updates right now. Today, we saw the company's iMac line up get a fresh with 8th and 9th generation Intel processors for the first time in almost two years. This includes the switch to a bigger and improved Retina Display, more storage, a new design language, and more.
