American golfer Ryan Moore produced the flawless shot at the 17th in the first round of The Players Championship.

The world's top 50 golfers, winners on the PGA Tour during the past year and the top 125 on the previous season's FedEx Cup point list are among those who qualify.

It is a conversation that comes up every year at TPC Sawgrass but Australians Adam Scott and Aaron Baddeley aren't prepared to grant the Players Championship major status any time soon. Among them, only Tiger Woods with wins in 2001 and 2013 is competing this weekend. On the other hand, Jordan Spieth having only played this tournament in March said that he personally likes the grass type better.

"If I drive it like I normally do then it's a big advantage round here because if you are always in play, it's scoreable after that", Fleetwood explained.

Unlike other professional sports leagues, such as the NFL and National Basketball Association, which have their own rules that differ from how the game is played at other levels, the various professional tours have always adhered to the Rules of Golf.

"I think 90 on I-95 is enough to get attention". The Champion Golfer of the Year was debuting his new Calloway clubs at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and is clearly enjoying the new equipment in the bag. "I don't understand what to think of the USGA anymore".

Dustin Johnson is among those who look forward to the move to March, even though he has only played this event in May. The ball doesn't fly as far and the course just plays slower. But instead of hitting 9-iron, he went with a 3-iron.

It is just the ninth hole-in-one on Pete and Alice Dye's penultimate hole on the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in the PGA Tour event's history, and the first since Sergio Garcia's ace in 2017. There are a lot of courses out here that make you feel uncomfortable. "I was really struggling with my swing for a lot of years and it was hard to come here and play well".

"All the notables in the game now are a reflection of what is going on in the game; they're the bombers, they hit it forever", said David Duval, the 1999 PLAYERS victor who is now a Golf Channel analyst. "I had some chances on 15 and it didn't happen but it shows that if you stay patient, things can happen".

Tiger Woods, right, talks with Matt Killen, the putting coach of Justin Thomas, who is working with Woods the week, during a practice round of The Players Championship golf tournament, Wednesday, March 13, 2019, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
