Sniper Elite 5, Sniper Elite VR and Sniper Elite V2 Remastered announced

No word so far on whether existing Sniper Elite v2 owners on PC will get the new version free or discounted, but I'd hope so.

Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition is a feature-complete version of Sniper Elite 3.

The news comes from a Sniper Elite Development Update video, where Rebellion's CEO and co-founder Jason Kingsley confirmed that four games are now in development for the tactical shooter franchise: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered (the original, of which, actually appeared on Wii U back in the day), Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition especially for Switch, a new, standalone Sniper Elite game for VR devices, and the next major title in the series as a follow-up to Sniper Elite 4.

That's not the only new announcement, though.

It'll be set in the Mediterranean (same as Sniper Elite 4), and the brief clip they showed of it - with the sniper scope being a proper 3D object you peek through - reminded me of the brilliant Silent Scope arcade series. While there aren't any details about the game, if it manages to one-up the fourth game it should be fantastic. However, Rebellion acknowledges that it's in development. Sniper Elite III first launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in July 2014, followed by the Ultimate Edition in March 2015.

New characters, more multiplayer modes, a new photo mode, and of course enhanced graphics have been added to the game.

Considering that the game and its DLC came to both last and current-gen consoles, it isn't surprising that Rebellion could include it all on Nintendo Switch.

The only promotional image for the game claims an Xbox One and Windows 10 release.

Despite the leak, Rebellion is promising more to announce today. Allegedly, V2 Remastered is just a "mere morsel" of what the developer has in store. Are you excited to experience the franchise on Switch for the first time?
