The victory kept the Canadiens tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

With the game still scoreless in the second period, Price made a spectacular pad save on Michael Rasmussen before Shea Weber knocked the rebound away out of midair.

Domi's second of the game came at the end of regulation when the goal was to prevent a tying effort from the Red Wings as it was a 2-1 hockey game by that point.

The term "must win" is thrown around way too often in sports, but given the current situation the Canadiens find themselves in and how poorly the Red Wings have performed this season, Tuesday night's matchup at the Bell Centre was definitely a must-win game. The 31-year-old was fully outstretched to deny Tyler Bertuzzi on a breakaway before freezing the puck on Frans Nielsen's risky rebound.

It is a franchise record that has stood since March 16, 1963, the last win Plante recorded with the Habs.

Max Domi's empty-netter sealed the hard win.

Tomas Tatar, who had two assists against his former team, agreed with Domi. Jonathan Bernier stopped 33-of-35 shots in defeat.

Domi gave Montreal the 1-0 lead at 12:27 of the second when he deflected Andrew Shaw's hard pass from the half-wall past Bernier for his 23rd goal of the season. "It's honestly insane to put into words what he's accomplished".

Kulak scored his fourth goal at 17:32 of the middle period with a blast from the point after a Tatar feed.

Domi scored an empty-net goal in the final minute to clinch Montreal's victory. "At some point you have to get rewarded".

The Red Wings have dropped their last nine games against the Canadiens.

The Red Wings are down another defenseman after Jonathan Ericsson left yesterday's loss to the Canadiens in the first period with a lower body injury.
