Unai Emery's side gave themselves quite a mountain to climb after losing the first-leg 3-1 in France, but they delivered on their own patch.

Trailing 3-1 after the first leg Aubameyang got Arsenal off to the flawless start in the first five minutes, turning home Aaron Ramsey's cross.

Prior to the Gunners' victory, Chelsea completed their progression to the last eight of this season's Europa League, which was done in style with a convincing 5-0 thrashing of Dynamo Kyiv.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles doubled the lead when the former Borussia Dortmund ace floated in a ideal ball for the Arsenal academy graduate.

Rennes pushed for an away goal but Aubameyang scored a third late in the second-half to seal Arsenal's progress.

After finding the back of the net in the 72nd minute and putting Arsenal up 3-0 against Rennes, Aubameyang broke out a "Wakanda Forever" salute while donning a Black Panther mask.

"Black Panther.in Africa and Gabon we are called the Black Panthers so it represents me - that's it".

Rennes picked up four bookings as they failed to answer Arsenal's attacking play, and Aubameyang revealed that their opponents were nervous.

"I missed two chances to close the game but the most important thing is that we won and everybody is happy and proud".
