The ex-Dallas receiver who told critics of the Cowboys WR corps past year to watch more film, did just that before signing a free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills.

The 310-pound Covington, who played the last four years with the Houston Texans, was signed to bolster depth on the defensive line.

What convinced him that Allen could play? "It doesn't matter what people say". I've seen clips of him.

Allen was the first person from the Bills organization to reach out to both Beasley and new projected No. 1 receiver John Brown after they put pen to paper on their new deals. "I just wanted to be in place where I'd have more opportunities and this seemed like the place for me to be". "I'm just happy to be here and help him do his thing".

"[He's] a good dude", Beasley said of Allen. It's just the willingness to get better and work. I could tell and hear it through the phone that he was hungry and eager to get better. In 2016, Beasley posted career-high totals in receptions (75) and receiving yards (833), while hauling in five touchdowns.

"It was a battle between here and New England and Dallas, obviously", Beasley, who spent his first seven National Football League seasons with the Cowboys, told reporters Thursday in Buffalo.

Austin, the eighth overall pick in 2013, finished the year with eight catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns, marking a second consecutive season in which his statistics fell off.
