As the co-hosts gathered around her, Goldberg outlined how she'd gone to the hospital via ambulance and how "the scariest moment was hearing my doctor say to me, 'You do realize how close to death you were?'"

The 63-year-old EGOT victor said she'd gotten permission to be at the ABC chatfest's studios that day, but that her compromised immune system means that she'll have to "ease back in" to daily hosting duties. "You need to think of it".

"This is a cautionary tale for all of us, you must take care of yourself because there's little tiny stuff out there that can kill you that you never even think of", Goldberg added, before referencing the death of Kim Porter. "Well, it can", she said.

Whoopi Goldberg provided an update about her health via a prerecorded video on "The View's" Friday morning's episode, telling her fans since being diagnosed with pneumonia she 'came very close to leaving the earth'. "I'm supposed to just like ease back in and I will".

Goldberg said she had been coughing since November, which was the early sign of her illness.

Her fellow co-hosts were stunned by her arrival and Goldberg was greeted with their smiles and embraces while the audience chanted her name.

Goldberg also offered up her thoughts on health insurance and how her insurance advocate was arguing with her doctor over what breathing machine would be paid for.

"I really kinda missed y'all!" "And the people who are saying "no" to you are not doctors, they are people looking at algorithms".

"I think doctors should not be on insurance boards. They had to pump a lot of stuff out of me". So Goldberg asked if she could lease it.

"I'm the only person who can go into the hospital for thee weeks and put weight on", she joked, before getting more serious in tone. Tell me where you're putting my money. "Sixty years of insurance money and you're telling me I can't get this machine. B--h, I could have bought this machine".
