Militao, 21, becomes the first signing at Real since Zinedine Zidane returned as head coach on Monday, replacing the sacked Santiago Solari.

Militao has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu, with Madrid confirming he has committed his future to the club until 2025.

Real Madrid have agreed a €50million (£42.6m) deal to sign Porto defender Eder Militao, Globo reports.

The Brazilian centre-back joins after Los Blancos meet the 50-million euro buyout clause in his contract with the Portuguese club.

MARCA reported that an agreement had been made between Real Madrid, Porto and the player while a payment to Militao's former club Sao Paulo was yet to be finalised.

Both clubs announced the move on Thursday and the Spanish club say the 21-year-old Brazil global will sign a contract until 2025 with them.

He has scored three goals and picked up two assists in 34 appearances for the Portuguese side, with his displays catching the eye of Madrid.

Militao, who can also play at right-back and has been capped once by Brazil, reinforces a Real defence that has often been diminished by injuries this season.
