On Thursday, the Patriots officially announced they have traded for defensive end Michael Bennett.

"I used to hate the Patriots", Bennett acknowledged.

Bennett had a successful 2016 season with New England, when he had 55 receptions for 701 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, and helped them win Super Bowl LI. I hated that Belichick would wear sweaters. I love being a Patriot obviously because it is all about winning. It's just about doing what you need to do to get to where we want to go as a group. "He loved it, but the fact that he loved it made me hate it".

According to the news release, Philadelphia gets a fifth-round pick in 2020 from the Patriots and in exchange New England receives a seventh-round pick in 2020 from the Eagles.

The Patriots will be Bennett's fourth team, as he previously played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009-2012), Seattle Seahawks (2013-2017) and Eagles (2018).

The Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl-winning campaign where they defeated the Los Angeles Rams in the big game by a score of 13-3.

"I was the brother that was the Super Bowl champ", Bennett joked about of the rivalry with his brother. Prior to that, Michael was the only Super Bowl champion in the family. Then he took that from me. It may take more than an Instagram comment from Brady to lure him back.
