Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder's potential mouthwatering unification fight has edged closer, with "a clear desire from both sides to make the fight", according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs), 29, of England, meantime, is set to fight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs), 30, of Brooklyn, on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in NY. The 33-year-old is reportedly scheduled to fight Dominic Breazeale in a Showtime pay-per-view on 18th May in NY after Wilder saw his rematch with Tyson Fury fall apart when the Englishman signed a multi-fight deal with Top Rank to compete on ESPN and the ESPN+ OTT service.

"It's very encouraging", Hearn said. "I'm not going to say too much on it, because I don't want to jinx anything".

"But if they don't fight here, I would think he's probably going to fight Wilder in December, January".

Deontay Wilder has been offered a fortune to sign for streaming network DAZN with a view to fighting Anthony Joshua this winter for the undisputed world heavyweight title.

Hearn added: "It's not just about doing a deal with Wilder, it's about doing a deal with Joshua, for the fight".

"They've got their work cut out, but the pieces are coming together".

"We'll see where it goes. But there is now a strategy in place and a route in place that could lead us to an undisputed fight".

Top Rank reportedly recently offered Wilder a two-fight deal that brought in US$12.5 million for the first bout, forcing PBC to push its proposed bout with Breazeale to PPV in order to make its own deal more financially rewarding.

And according to World Boxing News, DAZN have tabled a massive contract. Part of my job is to make sure he stays focused on that task. Joshua is making his United States debut against Miller because DAZN is paying him tens of millions to leave his comfort zone in the United Kingdom, where he is a major star and his fights regularly sell out stadiums.

The American knockout artist is expected to confirm a mid-May defence of his world title against mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale. Joshua fights Miller. If an undisputed fight gets made it will be November or December 2019.
