Bridgewater set to meet with Dolphins

A Miami native, Bridgewater was reportedly on Miami's shortlist at quarterback, but was heading back to New Orleans to continue backing up Drew Brees. Bridgewater is visiting Miami at their facility this evening. ESPN's Dianna Russini reported on air that Bridgewater is expected to join the Dolphins if the team adds a few million dollars to its offer.

The Dolphins would have to lure him.

The Dolphins will need to up their ante on Bridgewater, whose visit comes on the same day free agent Tyrod Taylor rejected a similarly low offer from Miami.

Bridgewater became the Saints' backup last season after being traded to New Orleans during training camp previous year by the New York Jets, who drafted quarterback Sam Darnold with the third overall pick in the 2018 National Football League draft. The deal that put Nick Foles with the Jacksonville Jaguars also went through.

The Dolphins are in quarterback limbo with Ryan Tannehill's future unclear under the new coach-GM combination of Brian Flores and Chris Grier.

But there's plenty of moving parts involved before the Saints can even consider signing Tannehill, namely him still being under contract with Miami and carrying a $13.4 million hit in dead money should they release him.
