Conor McGregor got himself into trouble on Monday when he was arrested for strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief in relation to an alleged incident where he slapped the phone out of the hands of a fan and destroyed it.

"Conor picked the phone up, put it in his pocket and laughed."Abdirzak says McGregor then got into a auto and pulled away, with a hotel manager then approaching him saying that he (Abdirzak) would be looked after".

Ahmed Abdirzak, the man who had his phone broken and stolen by Conor McGregor in Miami this week has said that the UFC fighter tricked him with an invitation to a handshake.

. He was like, 'Get the (expletive) out of my face.

"There was a security in his entourage around him and I asked him if I could get my phone back and it was like, 'Yo, move, man". That's when the hotel manager come to me and said, 'Listen, I'll sort this out. McGregor then grabbed the phone and left the area, they said.

The police started their investigation and McGregor was arrested later that day at a nearby home and then booked into the Miami-Dade jail.

McGregor posted a photo with a short caption to his Instagram on Tuesday, just hours after being released on US$12,500 bond.

Abdirzak said he was angry that personal memories will likely be lost forever even if he does get the phone back.

"Last evening Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation over a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement", Rabin's statement read.

McGregor, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and one of the biggest drawcards in MMA, was on holiday in South Florida before preparing for his UFC comeback. "Mr. McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation".
