For the second time this year, Michigan State lost to IN in shocking fashion. And this time, the loss may have cost the Spartans a shot at a Big Ten title.

Justin Smith scored a career-high 24 points, and IN beat No. 6 Michigan State 63-62 on Saturday.

These are the kinds of games you expect championship-level teams to win, but when they give the game away to silly, avoidable mistakes, you have to question whether or not they deserved to win the conference.

The loss snapped a five-game Spartans win streak and robbed the Spartans of momentum gathered from its upset win over MI last Sunday.

IN trailed 62-60 before Juwan Morgan made a layup with 1:46 left while being fouled by Xavier Tillman. The Spartans failed to score in the last 4:12 of the game, missing four shots.

Michigan State led by as many 12 in the first half. For the game, Michigan State finished with 14 turnovers. Morgan then converted the three-point play to give the Hoosiers their first lead since the game's opening bucket.

Cassius Winston led Michigan State with 20 points and 11 assists.

Romeo Langford scored nine points for IN on 4-for-14 shooting.

In the end, it was the Hoosiers who took the lead on a circus and-one by Juwan Morgan and the Spartans couldn't respond in the final seconds after a timeout as Winston jacked up a contested mid-range jumper from the baseline and it fell short.

Kenny Goins had 14 points for Michigan State, and Tillman finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Smith had 24 points for Indiana.

IN may not make it to the NCAA tournament this season, but it certainly has Michigan State's number.
