Dolly mentioned in another interview on the red carpet for the event that she felt like the show has particular relevance in the time of #MeToo.

Dean, 76, who has long shunned the spotlight and nearly never appears at public events with his superstar wife, still makes sure to show his support for Parton, even though he's more of a hard rock and bluegrass music fan.

Parton has previously opened up to PEOPLE about her lasting love with Dean, whom she met when she was just 18 years old.

"We knew each other, our parents knew each other, we grew up together, we were like sisters, became best friends". "With. people drawing attention again to equal pay, equal work, harassment in the workplace, this is just another good way for us to shine a light on some things that need to be lit up a little".

"She was very quiet, I was very outgoing". I'm like his little girl I think. They've said that about Oprah but it's not true. So we made ideal friends. We went all through school together, all through high school.

Dolly Parton's music is loved by fans all around the world but doesn't get the same reaction closer to home.

The "9 To 5" hitmaker has revealed Carl Thomas Dean - who she has been married to since 1966 - is more of a fan of hard rock and bluegrass music than Dolly's country style but she insists he's really "proud" of her and her long career.

"We'll have been married 53 years this coming May".

It's not the first time Parton has publicly addressed the claims.

Speaking to the New York Daily News in 2012, she said: "I'm not gay".

"But if there's gossip going on, they're going to bring me into it. It's been a good 50 years and I don't know how many more years we'll have left". "I think people think that in itself is not normal".
