NY executives continue "to check in" on the star 26-year-old free agent, according to a report from SNY, which cites unidentified league sources. The Giants indeed plan to offer Harper a lucrative short-term deal, but have no desire to provide a long-term contract approaching the 10-year, $300 million contract Harper rejected from the Washington Nationals in September. The 26-year old has met with over half a dozen teams during free agency, but his camp has yet to publicly announce his preferred destination.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the San Francisco Giants have apparently become a very realistic potential landing spot for Harper, as there appears to be serious interest between the two sides. Machado prefers to play shortstop over third base, where he has spent much of his career, but the Yankees intend to deploy newly-signed Troy Tulowitzki at short until Didi Gregorius returns.

Somehow, someway, the New York Yankees have the best betting odds to sign Manny Machado, according to betting site BetOnline.

Harper has history against the Giants, most notably during the 2014 NLDS against San Francisco.

Bryce Harper #34 of the Washington Nationals reacts after hitting a single in the seventh inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers during game five of the National League Division Series at Nationals Park on October 13, 2016 in Washington, DC. The San Diego Padres are second with +250 odds.

Chances are slim for Harper to return to the Nationals, as Washington now has 10/1 odds to re-sign their superstar.

While Harper's final destination is still uncertain, Vegas may know something that the general public does not.
