So far this season, the Bulldogs have lost just twice at home this season, to rival MS, but being able to split this two-game homestand with LSU and Kentucky will be vital to the Bulldogs' at-large hopes.

Mississippi State hosts Missouri on Thursday. In the fourth quarter, things get a little tiresome.

Tennessee is 4-2 on the road this season, including 2-2 in SEC play. The Wildcats will be looking to keep the pressure on No. 1 Tennessee as we head towards the end of the season and Mississippi State will be looking to solidify their tournament resume by knocking off Kentucky.

Tennessee suffered its first-ever loss to the Bulldogs on January 28, 2016, when #13/13 MSU came from 12-down in the fourth quarter to force OT and defeat the #19/23 Lady Vols in Starkville, 65-63.

"I don't see any reason they can't compete for a [national] championship", Tennessee coach Holly Warlick said.

"Rennia is a great player", Danberry said. This was as good as we've played in a long time. But you would have never had that chance, because I would have never said something so far-fetched, so outlandish.

Tennessee won the first 36 games in the series, dropped three straight to the Bulldogs and then won one in Starkville and lost one in Knoxville.

Tennessee, now 15-8 and 4-6, was matching State basket for basket and trailing only 51-47 with four minutes to play in the third quarter.

Tennessee received 29 points from Rennia Davis and 13 points from Zaay Green. Lady Vols coach Holly Warlick believes the Bulldogs are as risky a team as there is in women's basketball. The 28-point victory was the Lady Vols largest defeat ever in conference play and was tied for their second-largest margin of defeat overall.

"Once we turned the defense up, I feel like that's when we're better offensively", Mississippi State guard Nick Weatherspoon said. They didn't do that until 2016, ending an 0-36 streak of misery in a series that for almost 30 years was as sure a thing as there was in the SEC. Even against the best of Mississippi State teams - and there were some good ones - Tennessee always won.

"(They are a) veteran team", Warlick said of MSU.

Losing four of the games by a combined nine points, UT dropped five consecutive league tilts before bouncing back with wins over LSU, Florida and Vanderbilt. Weatherspoon is coming off one of his best performance of the season against LSU, recording 27 points, two rebounds and two assists against the Tigers.

A dominating fourth quarter helped the No. 6 Mississippi State women's basketball team cruise to a 91-63 win over Tennessee Sunday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum. They shot 45.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from the three-point line while hitting 8-of-10 free throws. This year, Danberry is averaging 13.3 points and 26.5 minutes. A Jazzmun Holmes layup ran the lead to 20-15. But they've been able to make up the slack.

Mississippi State odds have the Wildcats favored by four-points, while the over-under, or total points Vegas thinks will be scored, is set at 143. The Bulldogs earned their 25th-straight SEC regular-season victory in the game.

There's still work to be done, but Mississippi State made a statement against the Lady Vols.

"I'm very proud of my team", Schaefer said. As a result, their entire offense was about trying to push the ball in transition and hoping they could hit some outside shots.
