Katy Perry’s Shoes Resembling Blackface Are Reportedly Being Pulled From Shelves

The disturbing trend of blackface in designer fashion continued this week, as several pieces in pop star Katy Perry's shoe line are being pulled from shelves due to minstrel features on the footwear.

"Regarding Katy Perry's shoes; if you have to second guess whether a design is blackface/racist.it probably is!" posted another Twitter user.

Days after Spike Lee, Soulja Boy and Dapper Dan shamed Gucci for its Blackface apparel, Katy Perry's latest shoe line has made the same mistake as the Italian luxury brand. The two styles appear with two eyes, a nose and red lips on them. However, the black style has critics pointing out the resemblance to classic blackface makeup.

Newsmax searched Perry's website, along with the websites for Walmart and Dillard's, but did not locate the aforementioned shoes that are called Rue Face Slip On Loafers and the Ora Face Block Heel Sandal.

Representatives for Perry told TMZ that the shoes were a part of a broader product release.

Singer Masika Kalysha broached the topic on social media, calling for Katy to explain herself.
