The Wildcats are projected to play in the Midwest Region in Kansas City.

The committee chair, Bernard Muir, revealed as much on Saturday morning's third annual Bracket Preview Show - a midseason look at the top 16 seeds as they now stand with just over a month left in the season. And while I have been releasing my projected NCAA Tournament fields for the past month, this event really kicks off the start of bracketology season in college sports. The Cavaliers are the top seed in the Midwest. There's ample time for teams to climb up or slide down the seeding list. The one-loss Volunteers are now the number two overall seed in the tournament. For the most part, the selections and seedings were predictable but they still gave us some insight into how the committee is gauging teams this year.

Muir said that Duke and Tennessee were "1A and 1B" in terms of their overall resumes as they evaluated who was worthy of the No. 1 overall seed, but Duke got the slight nod because "strength of schedule won out".

The No. 2 seed in Duke's region would be Michigan, with Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina rounding out the second line of teams. The West Regional site is Anaheim, California. The remaining three seeds are Marquette, Purdue and Houston, and the other four seeds are Nevada, Iowa State and Wisconsin.
