But when a rock or metal artist creeps into one of the big, mainstream categories, it takes rockers' devotion to new levels. "He was known for many things - he is a rock icon, the godfather of grunge and the creator of a movement, whose contribution to music history made a lasting impact across genres and generations".

Greta Van Fleet won their Grammy for BEST ROCK ALBUM for From the Fires, at the 61st Annual Grammys in Los Angeles, Sunday.

The band was up against several rock heavyweights, including Alice in Chains and Weezer. The prize went instead to Dua Lipa.

Greta Van Fleet also earned a total of four Grammy Nominations at this year's show.
