Michelle Obama makes surprise appearance at the Grammys

Soon after, Lady Gaga would return to the stage to accept the night's first broadcasted prize for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow".

However, before Obama even began speaking, deafening cheers and a standing ovation shook the Staples Center, forcing her to wait on her speech. "Just know that I got you", she told them.

The music business will be partying ahead of the show at celebrations including the pre-Grammy gala hosted by the Recording Academy and Clive Davis, the Family Tree Entertainment music managers pre-Grammy brunch and the Music Is Universal artist showcase hosted by Lucian Grainge. "That was Alicia's brainchild", Lopez shared. "Am I right or am I right?"

In an incredible empowering moment for women, Alicia Keys kicked off the Grammys by Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez AND Michelle Obama join her on stage to speak on the power of music! However, it was clear enough that people on Twitter noticed. "They're so important and a lot of artists deal with that", she said. But music told me not to listen to them. She expressed how music has helped everyone to heal and grow. "It reminds me where I come from, but it also reminds of all the places I can go".

The ladies appeared on stage to talk about the important role that music had played in their lives.

A true diva, Ross owned the room and concluded her moment with an enthusiastic declaration: "Happy birthday to me!"
