Here's what you need to know. Children born after 1994 in B.C. got two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR), but people born before that time or outside of B.C. may not have recieved both doses.

To further limit the spread of the virus, health officials ask that people who think they might have measles call their doctor or health care provider before visiting a hospital or doctor's office. "You did make a bad decision and I'm gonna go fix it'".

He said the patient is receiving treatment, but could not say where. "I was just blown away that you know, the largest health organization in the entire world would be written off with a kind of conspiracy theory-like statement like that". Then in 2004, the editor of The Lancet termed Wakefield's research as "fundamentally flawed" and noted that Wakefield had been paid by attorneys who wanted to sue vaccine manufacturers.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control tracks child immunization and reports that 82.1 per cent of children aged seven had been immunized for measles in 2018, compared to 88.4 per cent in 2017 and 90.2 per cent in 2016.

Washington state is in the midst of yet another measles outbreak, with over 50 cases already and a public health emergency declared in Clark County. According to the Washington Department of Health, almost one in four Clark County kindergarten students during the 2017-18 school year did not get all their immunizations; at three different elementary schools, over 40% of kindergarteners did not get vaccinated before they started kindergarten.

Travellers at Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ont., were warned last week that people who were in the airport's Terminal One for a four-hour period on January 27, may have contracted the disease. Back in 2015, the state garnered the dubious distinction of having the first measles death in the United States in 12 years. In Italy, where the current governing coalition had pledged to drop a law banning children without vaccination from starting pre-school (the coalition has since reversed its position), health officials have declared a 'measles emergency, ' as nearly one quarter of all measles cases in Europe in 2017 were reported in Italy.
