Director Bala, who was recently dropped from Varmaa, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy-starrer, released an official statement on Saturday evening. As the final cut of Varmaa was not acceptable to E4 Entertainment and film director, Bala is not agreeable to make any changes. In the presence of actor Vikram, both agreed that Bala would exit the film. Initially Vikram thought that National award winning director Bala would be the best choice for the Launchpad of his son but finally he has walked away from the project. He had also attached the termination agreement signed between the producers and Bala's B studios on January 22 itself. "Considering Dhruv Vikram's future, I would like to end this here". The director said, "I am forced to release this explanation, due to the false statement from the producer of Varmaa". However, it now appears that the production house and the filmmaker had severe creative differences over the film. Bala's one and the only condition is that his name should not be used anywhere else in the film including promotional posters, interviews, and title credits. They, however, added Dhruv Vikram will continue to play the male lead.

The makers of the film stated that apart from Dhruv, rest of the entire cast and crew will be changed and the new version will be released by June 2019. The agreement also mentioned waiving off balance payment by E4 to B studios and mentioned that B studios will make payment to Anand cine services, issuing a no due/ no lien certificate favoring E4 entertainment. The entire will now be shot again with a new director and cast and crew. She came to know of the development on the Internet. The latest hot buzz in Kollywood is that Vikram is holding talks with his Dhruva Natchathiram director Gautham Menon and a few other young filmmakers to enhance Bala's version of Varmaa but things are at a nascent stage.
