Catch-22 tells the fictional story of Yossarian (Abbott), a U.S. Army Air Force B-25 bombardier trying to fulfill his service requirements so he can return home from World War 2.

Joseph Heller's 1961 novel takes a look into the machinery of war and the absurdity of it, by telling the story of Yossarian (Christopher Abbott), a bombardier in World War II, and his commanding officer, the insane Colonel Cathcart (Kyle Chandler).

Clooney, who is executive producing the project alongside Grant Heslov on behalf of Smokehouse Pictures, was originally supposed to play Cathcart.

But while Clooney is in command behind-the-scenes, it remains in question whether he's in command of the show's tone, which vacillates between goofy and gut-wrenching over the course of the teaser. When Yossarian and his fellow airmen attempt to avoid these risky missions, they find themselves in violation of regulation 22; a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty. The series also stars Hugh Laurie (Major de Coverley), Giancarlo Giannini (Marcello), Daniel David Stewart (Milo), Rafi Gavron(Aarfy), Austin Stowell (Nately), Graham Patrick Martin (Orr), Gerran Howell (Kid Sampson), Jon Rudnitsky (McWatt), Kevin J. O'Connor as Cathcart's right-hand man Korn, Pico Alexander as Clevinger, Tessa Ferrer as Nurse Duckett, Lewis Pullman as Major Major, Josh Bolt as Dunbar, Jay Paulson as the shy Chaplain, and Julie Ann Emery as Marion.

Additionally, Hulu released the first trailer for the miniseries, which will premiere on on May 17.
