A quick moving system could bring a coating of snow and result in slippery conditions overnight Sunday into Monday morning before a bigger storm arrives on Tuesday.

The system will move in and out quickly, and it's followed by a much stronger system that will likely bring even more snow Monday night into Tuesday, forecasters say. The storm displaced 160 employees who provide food, lodging and other services to park visitors.

"This is a flawless morning to bundle up and play in the snow, but stay off the roads if possible", Gov. Jay Inslee wrote on Twitter.

Almost 8 inches of snow fell at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, where hundreds of flights were canceled, CBS News' Carter Evans reports.

A winter storm pounded Washington state Friday, forcing the cancellation of 200 flights in Seattle as officials worked to get people off the streets and into shelters during the nation's latest bout with winter weather.

Gov. Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency, saying everyone in the state should focus on staying safe.

Other parts of the country were also wrestling with hard weather.

In California, more than 120 visitors and staff members were rescued Thursday after being trapped by up to 7 feet of snow in a Sierra Nevada resort for five days.

The region, more used to rain than extreme wintry conditions, has been hit by a series of wintry storm systems. As many as 50 housing structures were damaged near Yosemite National Park by toppled trees during a snowstorm. There's more snow expected later in the week as well.

Elsewhere, more than 148,000 customers were without electricity in MI following days of freezing rain. The Consumers Energy utility said power would be restored by late Sunday.

About 50,000 residents are said to have lost power across the state, U.S. media report. The sky will remain cloudy throughout the day on Sunday, with more scattered showers and patchy drizzle.

Residents cleared out grocery store shelves and left work early Friday afternoon, February 8, as the storm arrived.

Sang said she had never seen the store so crowded.

But more snow was possible for the region by midweek, the report said.
