Enter late replacement Hugo Ruiz and the sewn-together featured bout was over as soon as it began inside the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. Davis (21-0) scored his 20th professional knockout by obliterating Ruiz in the first round.

Somewhat bizarrely after the fight, Floyd Mayweather claimed that next up for Davis would be an exhibition fight against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

"I just wanted to put on a great performance", the 24-year-old said.

Surprised media members asked Mayweather for a clarification and he responded, "Yes, he's fighting Tenshin in an exhibition bout in Japan". "So first it's Tenshin in April and then in May it's the real fight". Mayweather won the fight with a lopsided first-round knockout. Davis registered his 20th knockout win in 21 fights as Ruiz, who just fought and won against Alberto Guevarra on the Pacquiao-Broner undercard last January 19, didn't know what hit him. To fight Mayweather, Nasukawa moved up from is natural 126-pound featherweight division to the 147-pound welterweight division.

"We're talking about May [for Davis' next fight], if that's okay with him", Mayweather stated (via Boxing Scene).
