Popular Bollywood actor and '90s villain Mahesh Anand passes away at 57

The actor, who was 57, was very popular in the 80s and 90s as an antagonist in many movies. He was known for films such as Shahenshah (1988), Majboor (1989), Swarg (1990), Thanedaar (1990), Vishwatma (1992), Gumrah (1993), Khuddar (1994), Betaaj Badshah (1994), Vijeta (1996) and Kurukshetra (2000).

Veteran actor Mahesh Anand, who usually played villain roles in Bollywood movies, was found dead at his residence in Mumbai on Saturday. He was last seen in 2019 release Rangeela Raja, which was made by Pahlaj Nihalani and featured Govinda in the lead. His last movie was Rangeela Raja released in January this year. The cause of his death is not clear yet and reportedly his body has been taken to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. Anand has shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol and Dharmendra among many others. When PeepingMoon.com contacted his ex-wife, she said that she was not aware of his death. "We are not in touch since 2002", she was quoted as saying. Reports also suggest that Mahesh was facing some financial crisis too. In an interview with Cinestaan.com, Anand had said that he did not have any movie offer for as long as 18 years, and he used to earn bread and butter by participating in wrestling matches.
