"The transfer waiver application seeking immediate eligibility for student-athlete Justin Fields that The Ohio State University submitted to the NCAA has been approved".

Fields released a statement on being granted immediate eligibility in the statement as well as his time at Georgia. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day, tasked with replacing both departed Heisman finalist Dwayne Haskins and his presumed successor, Tate Martell (who transferred to Miami), the former No. 2 recruit in the country.

Last offseason, MI received a five-star transfer quarterback of its own in Shea Patterson, who, as represented by renowned attorney Thomas Mars, was granted immediate eligibility in the wake of the Ole Miss scandal he was departing.

"I thank God for His guidance during this time of uncertainty", Fields said in a statement.

He was eligible for the waiver because of a racial incident back at Georgia when a baseball player allegedly referred to him using a slur. In my silence, people began to speculate, and the story took on a life of its own. I have no regrets about my time at UGA and have no hard feelings for the school or football program. I am still close friends with many of my UGA teammates.

I'm sure OSU fans are cracking beers right now and celebrating.

I will not be speaking about my transfer again. Fields played as a true freshman at Georgia in 2018 and transferred to the Buckeyes in January following bowl season. Fields' attempt to get eligible right away worked, and now the Buckeyes should be the extremely heavy favorites to win the Big Ten. He also ran for 4 touchdowns as well. Fields final snap came on a fake punt against Alabama that failed and gave the Crimson Tide a chance to drive for the game winning score.

Fields announced his decision to transfer from Georgia this past December, and enrolled at Ohio State ahead of the spring semester.

The Wolverines have struggled to get over the hump against Ohio State, losing 62-39 in Columbus this past November in a year where MI was expected to win going away.
