Earlier this season, the Sixers traded for Jimmy Butler, who wanted out of the dysfunctional Minnesota Timberwolves.

Clippers forward Tobias Harris, left, passes the ball during a game on January 31, 2019, in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old Harris is having a breakout season with the Clippers.

Philadelphia is going all-in with this move, as Harris is averaging a career-high 20.7 PPG, but is an unrestricted free agent after the season. That includes a stellar 42 percent mark from distance.

"Tobias is one of the best three-point shooters in the National Basketball Association and possesses an innate ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, while Boban and Mike provide valuable skillsets, size and depth to our team". Philly also gains depth at center behind Embiid in Marjanovic.

Harris will move to the Wells Fargo Center as the centerpiece of a six-player, four-draft pick trade.

The Philadelphia 76ers were always going to be active leading up to Thursday's trade deadline. The Sixers gave up their own 2020 first round pick, plus an unprotected 2021 first-round pick (via the Miami Heat).

On the Sixers side, Wojnarowski reports the team is attempting to create cap space and work the contracts to keep "a new Big 4" of Harris, Jimmy Butler, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons intact beyond the impending free agencies of the former two stars. The Sixers are making a run to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals.

The Sixers did not move any of their stars to acquire Harris. Fultz has been rehabbing a bad shoulder and missed most of the season. Coach Brett Brown refused to commit before Tuesday's win over Toronto that Fultz would be part of the playoff rotation. "It's not smart for me to think like (he'll be a part of the rotation)".

This is the fifth time Harris has been traded since the Charlotte Bobcats drafted him in the first round (19th overall) in 2011.

"I can't say enough good things about Tobias Harris and the many ways he has impacted our organization". "It's not any better or worse".
