According to TMZ, Kanye West was actually signed on to perform at the show.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, a guy Ye knew secretly contacted Philipp Plein, who is staging a big New York Fashion Week event this coming Monday.

Plein believed they booked West through Yusef to perform at a black-tie dinner and runway show on Monday (February 11). Music. Philipp Plein now has two problems; he's not getting a Kanye West appearance and he's out of almost $1 mil. [Plein's] now making aggressive offers, like mid-six figures, for an artist to do three songs.

The gossip site also obtained a picture of the contract with Kanye's forged signature on it and with that of Plein. Six children from the foundation were also expected to appear at the high-brow event, wearing Philipp Plein head to toe.

While Kanye may be working on becoming a different person this year, specifically one that's less politically-controversial after news broke that he'll officially retire that ill-received MAGA hat, we doubt Mr.

The contract was never going to be honored, of course - the man apparently perfectly forged Kanye's name and signature on the documents - and Plein even gave him a $900,000 advance for the phony show! "We were beyond excited to work with [West] but unfortunately an individual pretended to be part of his management team and acted without Kanye's knowledge, capitalizing on a former friendship with him", a Philipp Plein representative said in a statement.

Malik Yusef, West's friend and collaborator, was the one who booked the spot according to The Blast.
