While the draw normally takes place at 8.30pm, yesterday the results weren't available until nearly 11pm.

Some Powerball users voiced their frustration over the delay in the draw on Thursday, which the Lott says was because the volume of entries was larger than usual.

The prize has jackpotted for eight weeks in a row and is now the equal highest it has ever been in 23 years.

Among last night's victors were 15 division two-winning entries, each taking home $81,533.30.

On this occasion Thursday's draw wasn't until after 10.30pm AEDT time - a delay of approximately one hour.

The post came nearly two hours after results were due to be revealed.

The numbers were eventually announced during Channel 7 news, explaining the delay was caused by a technical glitch on Powerball's end.

Powerball tickets expire one year after the drawing date, and unclaimed prize money goes to the state School Aid Fund.

Of these entries, nearly two-thirds were quick-pick entires, and nearly one-in-four of the winning entries were PowerHIT entries.

The numbers drawn Wednesday were 6, 19, 37, 49, 59 and the Powerball number was 22. The second "hot" number is 29, which was drawn 12 times.

Punters have been warned to avoid choosing numbers 1, 2, 4 or 18 because they haven't made an appearance in the last 18 months.

The Lott spokesman Matt Hart spoke about what the life-changing win would mean for one lucky ticket holder.
