Multiple injuries after suspected gas explosion in Paris bakery

There has been a loud explosion in the centre of Paris, police have confirmed.

A large explosion badly damaged a bakery in central Paris, injuring several people and smashing windows in surrounding buildings, police said.

Witness Luke filmed the carnage and said people feared a vehicle bomb was to blame.

Weekly protests by the yellow vest movement, which is railing against the economic policies of French President Emmanuel Macron, were scheduled for Saturday.

France's Prefecture de Police say the blast occurred in a bakery on the Rue de Trevise, in the 9th arrondissement, north-central Paris.

A Paris police spokeswoman said several injuries have been reported to police but no deaths, according to Associated Press.
