Gary Kubiak decides against being Broncos' OC

It would seem, with Gary Kubiak not planning to move into the role of offensive coordinator, the Broncos will go a different direction, allowing Munchak to perhaps make a lateral move into the role of offensive line coach in Denver. With Fangio running the defense and Kubiak calling the shots on offense, the Broncos' new coaching staff appeared to be in place.

Via multiple reports on Friday afternoon, Kubiak will not be the Broncos' offensive coordinator. However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, that is not the case.

Mike Klis of Denver's 9News added a bit more detail, saying Kubiak wanted to bring back assistant coaches Rick Dennison and Brian Pariani, who were fired in Denver's last housecleaning two years ago.

That, coupled with the differences in offensive approach led to Kubiak walking away.

One thing is clear: if Kubiak wants to return to coaching, it will not be in Denver. The Broncos are seeking permission from the Pittsburgh Steelers to speak with Mike Munchak about coaching their offensive line.

The Broncos have reportedly been blocking teams from interviewing Kubiak, a decision that may have had major ramifications on the Atlanta Falcons' search for an offensive coordinator. Munchak finished as the runner-up to Fangio for the head-coaching job.
